D-Win A Detroit West Side Native
Producer of Hip Hop, Soul, Jazz, Funk, Broken Beat, House
The true essence started in Motown Detroit, being introduced to hip-hop music in the early eighties. D-Win is an original “double-deck” cassette producer from an early age splicing samples into loops. The influence of soul, blues and jazz he picked from his parents and his uncle Paul's record collection as a youngster became hip-hop track loops. Track loops would be converted into beats creating a unique sound of music.
D-Win began learning his musical philosophy by learning his first instrument the acoustic guitar. D-Win comes from a world class family full of Keyboardists and Guitarists such as Earl Klugh and Nimrod Lumpkin, both from which Mentored and motivated him to develop as a musician.
D-Win also studied the piano and keyboard at an early age.
D-Win helped found a movement along with fellow producer Afrabehn called Ditmot. Descendants in The Midst of Thought.
This Movement represented live instrumentation along with improvisation and natural vibe.
After D-Win graduated from High School he moved on to college,to play division 1 football at Murray State University in Kentucky. He played wide receiver under Houston Nut. D-Win decided to pursue a career in Media Arts and Broadcasting and found himself back in his Native City Detroit.
He gradually started to incorporate more southern influences in his music and became open to even more types of music, adding to the melting pot of sounds which he already had been utilizing. This experience would teach him many aspects of music production including vocal arrangement and many recording techniques.
D-Win eventially would complete his educational experience. He obtained an associates degree in 1996 for Mass Media Arts and Broadcasting at Henry Ford Community College. He would later receive a Bachelors of Science degree at Eastern Michigan University in Public Relations and Mass Communications.
After D-Win's college graduation, D-Win would assist in formulating Ditmot into a well respected group in Detroit's underground hip-hop scene. While the group became moderately successful, D-Win also wanted to pursue a career as a solo artist. As a result, D-Win would further expand and enhance his sound by working with a variety of focused, talented artists, musicians, rappers, and singers. D-Win's development has allowed him to be a diverse producer and it also permits him to develop a raw and unique sound. D-Win does not like to be classified for a certain type of music or genre and wants to be known as an Entertainer. D-Win does music for the soul.
D-Win is motivated to make a major impact on the music industry with his debut solo album featuring other talented artists called “Rap Pages”. Rap Pages is combination of genres such as Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, Jazz, R&B, Latin, Reggae and Rock music. D-Win's lyrics are created through his personal experiences in life as well as reflecting on life with current events and life lessons. Welcome to The Realm of Win.
