GrantLOVE Presents: The SlowDown
Slow Dance by
Loren LongWelcome to another edition of GrantLOVE Presents. The SlowDown came about on a whim. I was checking a few old computer folders and stumbled on these songs, some of which I haven't heard in decades, and decided to put together a Podcast. Starting off with a tribute to the one and only Stevie Wonder, Rocket Love by Black Coffey from the album
Conception. I followed that with the Grand Puba produced Love, Need & Want by
Chante Savage. You'll find some older faves like Rene & Angela's My First Love, and the incomparable Johnny Guitar Watson putting his mack down on Lovin You. The
Force MD's,
Entouch, Taana Gardner, and The Ohio Players'
Pride & Vanity makes this SlowDown Mix an instant classic. Where else will you find all these songs on one mix? HERE, that's where. I hope you enjoy the flashback.
Peace & Blessings

Not 4 Radio Consumption
“Never badder than bad 'cause the brother is madder than mad at the fact that's corrupt as a senator, Soul on a roll, but you treat it like soap on a rope 'Cause the beats in the lines are so dope. Listen for lessons I'm saying inside music that the critics are
all blasting me for,
They'll never care for the brothers and sisters now across the
country has us up for the war.
We got to demonstrate, come on now, they're gonna have to wait
Till we get it right,
Radio Stations I question their blackness
They call themselves black, but we'll see if they play this”Public Enemy - "Bring Tha Noize"I was listening to the radio the other day waiting to hear something fresh and new since I knew there had been several recent releases from artists that I like. That experience lasted about 10 minutes, after I heard three songs in a row that were horrible. I knew there was a reason why I stopped listening to commercial radio in the first place. If this is the so-called "Home" of Hip-Hop & R&B, I'd rather be evicted!
I understand that the program directors have to play certain songs to satisfy their core audience, but isn't radio for everyone? I even tried listening to the Adult-Contemporary station here in Orlando and I heard song after song that has been played over and over again, with very few new songs added to their play-list.
I guess I'll be using my Zune everywhere I go from now on. So to all my music bloggers out there, email me you feeds so I never have to listen to Commercial Radio again.
Peace & Blessings in Abundance!!

For those of you who know me from Soulcrates may recognize this playlist. This was my favorite period in music, where big bands and electronic sounds collided and formed what I like to refer to as Park Jams. I was a youngster who would go to the parks just to hear the DJ's cut up these records, extending the break-beats and creating something new & fresh. This was the precursor to Hip Hop. The next couple of weeks I'll be posting all four volumes of Park Jams. This week is volume IV, the last of the series, it is also my favorite. I hope you enjoy.

Man, I tell you the truth, If I could re-do that record I would. LOL! I have learned so much about making records since I produced Kemistry... I know it would be a different record today. Don't get me wrong, I truly love the songs.
I am working on Album III as we speak.
Later this year is the goal.
I am hoping to do a listening session on this site in the coming months.
stay tuned!
