Peace,Love,Soul,
HAZali who's real name is Hassan Ali Ibrahim Abdus Salaam, was born in Harlem New York. Son to Sayed AbduS Salaam, and Salwa Abdus Salaam (R.I.P).Having five sisters and eight brothers HAZali had it in his mind to stand out from the rest. While just a young boy HAZali recalls his mother playing R&B/SOUL music such as Anita Baker, Smokey Robinson, James Brown, Luther Vandross, causing him to cry because the music seem to sad. Little did HAZali know that was his exposure to the music he would later create. HAZali comes from a Islamic background where he traveled abroad to many African countries such as Morocco, Gambia, Nigeria, Ghana, and his second home Senegal (Yes, the Native home of AKON). All of these countries are located in Western Africa. Spending four years in Medina Koalack studing classical Arabic, Quran, and french HAZali learned how to sing in the native language of Wolof and begin to perform at different venues in Senegal earning him the title of a performer agmonst his peers. After returning to America and attending Highschool HAZali join chorus and perform for every holiday and when that wasnt enough he begin to sing on the A, D, and F train everyday after school, not for money but to see the reaction of the people around him. Once he even had a crowd of people holding the doors of the train that did not wanna get off the train until his ballad was fnished. This is event would lead to the meeting with then A&R for TommyBoy records SHARP. After singing for him nemerous times and a promised trip to the studio at only the age 16, HAZali became really doubtful of his talent, and never returned SHARP's calls. The A&R called at least 12-20 times and left over seven voice mails. HAZali just ignored the call Fearing that would lead to his failure. HAZali didnt have a supprt system from is family pertaining to his love of music, espically from his brothers who made fun of him and said he couldn't sing. One time HAZali brother took him the studio to sing a chorus for one of artist, not giving him the words to chorus and putting on a HIP HOP uptempo beat , his brother told him to sing. Nervous HAZali went in the booth and tried to sing Lyrics from one Mario's song that sounded totally off. The next day HAZali's brother told most of his family that he couldn't sing. That event put a dagger in HAZali's dreams, cause his brother that he looked up to said he was not good enough, and that wasnt the first time he said HAZali couldnt sing. Years later now 22, HAZali put all his fears in the dark and uses his sisters, and the thought of his mother(who passed away March of 1993) to keep him going. HAZali just started to take his singing, writing, and producing skills seriously around August of 2006, after performing for his sister everyday after work. His sister's (Latifa Abdus Salaam, and Ruhkiyya Abdus Salaam) were the reason HAZali started to go the studio, and even the reason he begin to see that ALLAH ( Means God in Arabic) has gave him a talent to use. Now HAZali is not only in the process of finishing his demo, he writes and produces tracks for many upcoming artist, as well as artist that been singing for years. HAZali is hoping everyone who visit his page, and website enjoys the music and just remember that it only can get better. HAZali would also thanks everyone that helped him get to this point, and thanks the HATERS, or the people that doubted him, cause of YALL, it pushes him to do better and dream more.....
