Growing up in the San Francisco Bay area, Jalyn, the youngest of 10, found himself exposed to music and singing as far back as he can remember. It was at the age of 2, that Jalyn started belting out tunes. Influenced by his father who was a choir director, and mother, a singer/songwriter, Jalyn developed an eclectic taste in music inspired by all of the different styles he heard being played by his older brothers and sisters. Jalyn's name alone reflects the coming together of musicians, and means a "sweet harmony".

Shoveling through an older brothers drawer to find a record to play as he sang for his family one Christmas, he discovered an old Jackson 5 album, and was hooked, and decided that he wanted to spend his life making music. Piano lessons for a few months, at age 11, gave Jalyn the foundation he would later need to learn how to compose, and his love for hip-hop led him to Dj'ing parties and using samplers and drum machines in his music. By high-school, he was part of a hip-hop collective and performed locally, with the sole goal of spreading the music he found himself humming day in and out. Whether it was begging for the radio to be on, playing with his records, picking up an instrument and playing it immediately or singing in class – a talent was borne.

Amongst a few musicians in his family, Jalyn collaborates with his siblings on some tracks, and has also performed live, in Atlanta, GA and soon in New York. Some of the biggest influencers in Jalyn's life, Stevie Wonder, A Tribe Called Quest, The Beatles, Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, Michael Jackson and Pat Metheny can all be attributed for his soft-soulful sound, and melodic grooves. As a singer, songwriter, and multi-talented instrumentalist, Jalyn's sweet vocals embody old school funk, soul, and electronica. His recent release – Phosphene is completely representative of crossing musical boundaries, and after a few listens, you too, will be humming day in and out. A drive like no other, Jalyn has a willingness to succeed. Life's brought on challenges for him including a birth defect he conquered, losing his father and role model at a very young age and having to stand out as the youngest of ten children has taught him to withstand adversity, with a pen in his hand the entire time. His songwriting skills represent a menagerie of deep thought, happiness, sadness and the trials of those emotions over the past several years.

As a self-taught musician, he not only plays the piano, guitar, bass and drums, but he produces beats and his tracks with the utmost precision. Phosphene, Jalyn's second self-released album brings his musical journey full circle, blending melodic landscapes over hip-hop beats, and stories about hope, love and an everlasting dedication to his father and family, the biggest musical influencers of his life.
