Kimberly Holloway is music. She breathes in every note, every melody, and every chord. Possessing a knowledge and wisdom of music that has been described by some as esoteric. The LA-based vocalist/songwriter/musician has an uncanny feel for her craft that borderlines on preternatural. For Holloway, music is life. And it's evident upon first glance at the Atlanta native. You can see it in Kimberly's organic, soulful style, the way she gracefully moves onstage, and you can hear it in the consciousness of her lyrics and music. Kimberly has a unique way of connecting with her audience and transferring her energy to them with each soulful performance.
On her self-titled debut CD, Kimberly Holloway aims to take you on a sonic journey into the consciousness of life through rhythm. Kimberly's album educates you about life and love both lyrically and instrumentally. Kimberly has been chasing the spiritual force that is music for as long as she can remember. Some say she was born with a microphone in her hand. As a small child, Kimberly would study music by recording her favorite songs and memorize every line in the song, the phrasing of the vocalist and then practice by imitating the artist in the mirror everyday.
Kimberly Holloway whets your music palate with a taste for the eclectic. Although she's pure soul, Kimberly gives you a healthy dose of jazz, ala John Coltrane and Ella Fitzgerald mixed with a bit of classical as well. Kimberly's music style echoes memories of an 80's Patrice Rushen while adding a new dimension to today's soul music. Although this musician, songwriter and vocal arranger loves recording, Kimberly absolutely lives for performing and connecting with her audience. When you experience one of her shows you may catch her playing percussion, dancing or battling her musicians vocally on the microphone. There's an old saying in music that artists are born and not made. If that's true, then Kimberly Holloway has found her calling. - (On The Verge 2008)
