Day Shine Funk

Snagged off my own pieces

Hear’em dramatically shoutin

Used to want me in the worst way

Whether he knows the true meaning

is doubtful

All broke up by love

While the day shines brightly

With brilliance unsightly

Wishing for the sun’s eclipse

Turning day into night

Tell me this scene ain’t right

Some one familiar come along

He said he is out

No matter the investment spent

He gone leave me after all

The worried expressions I sent

Throwing myself at his feet

He want remember the things

I struggled for

All I know is

He don’t want me no mo

Broke each other down to the purest forms

Piece me together

Build me back up

Day shines in spite of requests not to

High lighting the loneliness abruptly

Me not devoid of a funk

but me devoid of you

He done found him another heart

to live in

Somebody elses shoe

Day shines spare them glimmering rays

Hear this mournful plea

Unless you shine on we as special ones

Turn away from the shards

Of me

Where'd Black Love Go

Hear we are no longer soul to soul

So I’m asking baby

Where did the love go

They say we were already destined fail

I’m saying let’s prove them wrong

Is our love gone to jail

Sentenced and incarcerated

In the manner that such innocence

Relationships seem to sow

Given the slightest chance

I need yo romance

Where did the love go

I don’t won’t to hold you back

I want to hold you down

I want to see you knock over the door

While we stand side be side

Sometime I’ll get behind you

So ba… Continue

Champage Gold (Lyrics)

Champagne Gold
Inhale
Look into his eyes
Chillax
Strategize

If he looks back
Let it ferment
Sip around glass
In silence vent

Champagne
Gold
Vintage

Pop the cork
Pour it into a glass

Shhhh

Listen to it fizzle
Tickles your nose
Peer at him through bubbles
Slips down your throat

Shhhh
Relax as it emotes
Simultaneously remote
Inciting spontaneous smoke

Smell heavenly body
Swivel in your mouth
Catch his eyes again
Careful not to shout

Hold on

Hold on
to his eyes
Let them linger
then pout

Sh… Continue

Ancestry "Beat Alive"

Begin
Be swift with your feet
Enter and
Memorialize
The awakening
Beats coming alive
The Congo thrived
Ushering birth of the driven strokes
Brand Nubians and Phaoroah’s ruled
Rhythm reigned from ear to ear
Gan gan scores bounced from their ribs
Unleashed the tongue of the talking drum
Juju bodies hummed indigenously
Circulated with in the family
Yoruba and parts of Ghana
Dark babies mastered the language
Intruder’s wanted to learn

My Ancestor’s Drums
Brown and black skinned maiden's
Shook in ce… Continue

Did Me A Poem

Did me a poem once
about a best friend
Lost that piece so I did it again
because she was a symbol
A symbol
A simile
A picture of intentional reliquary
An intentional Negress
As Negress as me
I know in certain circles some think it’s unnecessary
to write about the influences of which I believe
but few outside my family
positively set like wet marble
to mold my very face
to urge or aid in flawless grade making
so when I write this poem
I make her visible
By making her visible
she is resplendent in… Continue

happy new years sis! be safe

Happy New Years my dear Friend.
In the New Year may we remember
Today's decisions shape tomorrow's outcomes
That living each moment the best we can
Creates a harmonious life.

May we remember
By holding fast to integrity
Others see we are trustworthy.

When times are rough
May we remember to turn in
To our close and ready Source of comfort.

On New Year's and every day
May we remember that each new moment
Can be a fresh beginning.

And may we especially remember that
Personal peace preserved leads to
World peace, well deserved."
