I consider myself a pure Soul aficionado. There used to be a group named Pure Soul, but I digress.
I write a little poetry, might test the mic this year
Movies I watch over & over: Love Jones, Five Heartbeats, Crash, Shawshank Redemption, Lackawanna Blues, Humphrey Bogart movies
Books: Ralph Wiley,especially "Why Black People Tend To Shout". All 11 of Eric Jerome Dickey's books, Walter Mosley's Easy Rawlins thrillers.
I attend Organix Soul in Springfield, MA. They, Commune's D.Moss & James Lewis, have a lot of artists come through. Also, a lot of great spoken word artists as well. (Shout-outs or should I say fingersnaps to D.Moss, Brenda's Child, Mind Evolution, Mira). Be on the look-out for me.
Awaiting dates for the following CD's: Shawn Kane, Deemi, Maxwell, Tweet, Syleena Johnson.
No discrimating, just good music. Like Common says "Black music is Black music and it's all good."
Soul Commune shout-outs: Big-ups to DJ Renay on that House music; Queeley on her lovely voice, I've dubbed her voice "melogical" - melodic and magical.
Also listen to the Boom-Bap, pure hip-hop: Common, Talib Kweli, Public Enemy, Jean Grae, Pharoahe Monch, Scarface.
